INSTRUCTIONS
1- Make the blood for later use. Mix a spoonful of corn syrup with a lot of drops or red food coloring. When you get it to the color you want it, eave it aside.
*You can also buy fake blood but this way is cheaper since some of you might already have these two ingredients in your pantry.
2- Put on bra and undies and decide if you want a dress or a two piece costume.
*I used a sticky bra like this:
3- Start at the bottom and decided how long (or short!) you want it to be. This will be the base point of the wrapping.
*Since it was Halloween and I had on boy shorts underneath, I went for the shorter length 😉
3- Get help from a friend to start wrapping you around with the saran wrap.
*Don’t stretch the saran wrap so its super tight but don’t just loosely place it on you either. That will prevent you from being able to sit, dance, or even move in general. When you do this don’t keep your legs together, stand with them spread out a little.
5- Decide how you want your top to look once you have wrapped your self a couple of time.
* Depending on your bust size, how tight you are wrapping, and how much cleavage you want, you will need to play around a little. When I started wrapping myself I noticed that I had NO cleavage. I wanted more and started wrapping myself in a criss cross pattern around my chest. This is probably the most trickiest part because you will probably have to play a around with a few wraps before you get it to stay and look the way you want it.
6- Continue to wrap. While your friend is wrapping you and walking in circles around you, help them scrunch and twist the saran wrap as they are moving.
*Scrunching AND twisting will make it eventually NOT see through. Make sure you mix scrunching, twisting, and leaving it flat. Also make sure you are layering all areas the same amount. I recommend checking your views from the side and back to make sure there are no unusual lumpy areas from wrapping one part more than others.

* I ended up using 1 and half rolls of saran wrap. It ended up being really thick, so don’t worry, it will EVENTUALLY become non see through.
8- When you are satisfied with the transparency of your saran wrap, tape the end with the clear packaging tape.
*Check your angles and make sure you are not bulging anywhere you are not suppose to. If you are go back with the saran wrap and wrap yourself more to make those parts even. Make sure you still have some saran wrap left (this will be used to cover the blood so it doesn’t get one everything and everyone).
9- Make the knife handle fit your costume. Manipulate plastic pieces to make your knife fit in your costume.
*My knife piece was originally from a head band. To make the knife fit where i wanted it we had to make the headband plastic pieces into a “H” shape.

I made my plastic piece in this “H” shape (in pink). The 4 ends are what I used to tuck in the dress so the knife handle would stand up the right way |
10- Attach the knife to your costume. Stick the plastic pieces that are hanging out into sections of the saran wrap.
*This will prevent this sticky “blood” to get on everything.
12- Pair with nude, clear, or black heels and admire your awesome costume!!!
*I chose to wear black because it matches the handle on the knife!

Those are amazing costumes! I'm a fan of "Dexter".
Huge Dexter fan! Thinking of making this my costume this year. But one question…What did you do when you had to use the restroom?
I tried to hold it! I would suggest making the bottom half of the dress a little looser!
I was wondering, what did your guy friend use to make his costume, and where did he purchase it at?
He got most of the stuff from Amazon. Search Dexter shirt, Dexter apron, and etc… If you search green thermal shirts it gave him cheaper prices!
love the costume! thinking of doing this for Halloween but I have one question…..did you get super hot wearing layers of plastic? that’s my only concern
I love this idea but I wish you had a video to show how to do the twists with the wrapping. I haven’t tried it yet, and I know I’ll have to practice, but when I have someone wrapping me, I dont quite follow how I twist the wrap for them. And also when you did your top piece, was that the only section that was criss crossed or did you criss cross the whole dress too?
When you say “nude boy shorts” are you talking about underwear, or just short shorts?
This tutorial is amazing! Thank you so much 🙂 My boyfriend and I are being Dexter and victim this year and you did such a great job. Thanks for all of the detail.
Love the costume! I am attempting it tomorrow night. How many tries did it take you to get it how you wanted it to be? Wish me luck! =)
