Since I am currently cruising, Nidia is going to entertain you!
Hello, Geniabeme readers! While Eugenia is getting started on a great NYC adventure, she’s letting me come in here and stink up the place with my nail polish. My name is Nidia, and I run a little blog called Lit From Within [link: www.beautylitfromwithin.blogspot.com]. I saw that Eugenia has done some stamping manis, and I wanted to show you one of mine that is a lot of fun. I started off with a base layer of Ulta Little Black Dress, a black polish with a silver shimmer.
This is a pretty polish, one coat. It’s a little on the thick side – not unmanageable, but you can’t fiddle with it too much or you’ll drag the polish. I was hoping the silver shimmer would peek through the stamping, but it really didn’t.
For the stamping, I used three of the Essie Metallics – No Place Like Chrome (silver), Blue Rhapsody (blue), and Nothing Else Metals (lavender).
I placed dots of each color on the plate in a random pattern…
…and then swiped the plate with a plastic card, and pulled the image onto the stamper and pressed on the nail.
These are all very light colors, so the color mix is very subtle, but you can see the wash of blue and purple mixed in with the silver. I like using the metallics because they stamp so well, and because they all have the same texture, it looks like one magic polish that just swirls with color. You can use this technique with lots of other polishes, though, and make a rainbow stamp effect.
I hope you enjoyed this little tutorial, and make your own rainbow swirl stamps. Best wishes to Eugenia on her exciting journey! We’ll miss you here in Central FL!
