I am currently residing in Brooklyn, NY for another work project. I am so excited to be here because of all the food choices! I’m a big foodie who loves to try ANYTHING an EVERYTHING. I love trying mom and pop places to fine dining, and everything else in between. I will be starting to post about my adventures here! I was going to that before when I was in Jersey City but really didn’t get started but this time I am trying to do it!
My roomie and another coworker went to brunch yesterday at a place called Mariam. It had many good reviews on Yelp, it was in between my coworker and us, and they served brunch everyday (we were in the mood for brunch so that was a big PLUS). Miriam’s serves Israeli cuisine but also has traditional brunch items.
Now to the good part.. what we ate!
I decided on the:
Mediterranean Crispy Dough served with two eggs (any style) and a side of shredded tomatoes, spicy harissa & pickles. This was AMAZING. The crispy dough is like nothing I’ve tried before. Its doughy yet flaky and oh so good! Since I am not a fan of raw tomatoes I got the tahini sauce instead. This was a very filling meal and I can’t wait to go back for more.
My roomie Sarah got:
Burekas Puffed pastry pocket stuffed with feta & olives, served with two eggs (any style), labneh cheese, Israeli salad & tahini sauce. The white thing is the labneh cheese. This was DELISH, it tasted like a mix of sour cream and cheese, it was especially good with the crispy dough!
The service was great, we got seated right away and asked if we wanted coffee. The server was a young woman who very helpful with giving us suggestions. She had much to say about all the favorites. We were all talking about when we wanted to go back next!
Looks yum. I’m a sucker for breakfast.
