This past weekend my roomie and friends decided to create our own perfume! We found a place called The Fragrance Shop New York. It is a very small shop with a lot of different bath and body things. They even had Reviva Lab products!
The first thing you do is smell all the different oils they have. They had tons! The lady told us not to worry about combining scents and just to pick a couple scents we really liked. She told us she would help us mix and match later on. Since the shop was very small and there was a group of four in front of us we spent awhile smelling basically all of them. They had all sorts, from fruity to musk to earthy. Some smelled better than others, all of the smelled better than the “Earth” one (bleeeccckkkk).
After I googled a scent I liked, Bond No 9 Madison Square, I tried to make something similar. I used fragrantica.com to find the different notes used. They didn’t have the exact scents so I started to choose random ones. I wasn’t quite sure how it would turn out.
My final fragrance contained: Peony, Egyptian Musk, Chinalily, Blue Hyacinth, Pomergrante, and a little hint of Rose. It turned out to be a fruity floral. I am obviously not meant to make perfumes because it came out nothing like I wanted it to! It did not at all smell like Bond No 9 Madison Square Park, but I still love it! This roller ball bottle came out to be $42. The price was a little higher than I would have liked but its something unique and was fun to do. The lady at the counter took my name and the “recipe” for the fragrance I made so reordering is simple. It was something fun and different so I thought it was worth the price.
It was really fun to create my own fragrance! Have you done this before?!
DISCLAIMER: I purchased this myself.
