I lived in Brooklyn for about 3 months for work. If you don’t know, I love food just as much (MAYBE more sometimes) than makeup, which is why I LOVE going to jobs in NY! The food diversity is amazing. In Tampa the food choices are basically chains, bleh! In New York its AMAZING! One of my FAVORITE restaurants that I went to weekly was Talde, Dale Talde’s restaurant. His name sounds familiar because he was on Top Chef multiple times! I wanted to share all the yummy things I have tried there! Excuse some of the crappy pictures, some were taken at night.
Be prepared to be HUNGRY!
Perilla Leaf – toasted shrimp, coconut, bacon-tamarind caramel, peanuts – $5
This is the most unique thing I have ever tasted, the true definition of “an explosion in your mouth”. Who would have guessed that some ingredients in a leaf could be so tasty! You can’t even imagine how it taste even if you are familiar with all the ingredients, its something you have to try for yourself.
Lobster Tom Kha – coconut milk, rice noodles, corn – $15
This was good but nothing compared to the other dishes offered. There was a few pieces of lobster but I wouldn’t consider it the star of the dish. It had a really good broth that was unique and delicious.
Whole Roasted Branzino – banana leaf, turmeric, tomato – $31
This is the most AMAZING thing that I have put in my mouth! This whole fish is served with small tortillas so you can make a taco with it with the fish and herbs that it comes with. It taste so fresh and so yummy! I love “interactive” food and this is definitely on the top of my list!
Szechuan Sea Bream – calamansi pickled chilies, crispy shallots – $19
I am little bias on this dish. This dish reminded me of homemade meals from my Mom and Dad when I was growing up. It tasted JUST like it, the only difference was that my parents always used Flounder. I loved it and ate more than my share when I went with a friend!
I’ve tasted other things that I don’t have pics for! My favorite dessert there is the amazing Halo Halo! It has shaved ice, condensed milk, coconut, various fruits, boba, jellies, and Captain Crunch cereal! I highly recommend stopping in here if you are in the NY area!
