While living in NYC for the last 6 months I had lots, I mean LOTS of yummy foods that are not available in Tampa, FL. One of the things I missed were Chinese hand pulled noodles from Xian Famous Foods. They are delicious noodles with cabbage and beef goodness. They were yummy, oily, fattening, spicy, tangy, and all the words you could use to describe a filling meal! When my boyfriend came up to visit me in NYC I took him to get some had pulled noodles and he fell in love with them instantly as well. There is nothing like this at all back home in Tampa and it is so sad. I decided to make an inspired noodle dish so we could at least get SOMEWHAT of a taste for it since we missed it so much.
I had no idea where to start so I just decided to make the beef sauce in the crock pot since it was the easiest and because everything that comes out of a crock pot is always good (right?!).
This was a hit at dinner with us and 3 kids! I find it hard to cook foods that are not the ordinary fried stuff that kids like so its always a pat on my back when I make an “adult” meal that they like too. I think the next time though I will add some white vinegar for that extra bite. My Asian beef noodles did not taste anything like the ones from NYC but they were still great and hit the spot!

Sodium bi-carbonate is baking soda, right? What is Potassium carbonate? I have a little pasta roller, that I’ve not used, left over from my foodie days.
