While I was in NYC browsing through Sephora (there was one across the street from my corporate housing!!) a sales person introduced me to Amore Pacific Color Control Cushion Compact. It claims to give you SPF protection, deep hydration, and complete coverage. This retails for $60 at Sephora and comes with an extra compact. The actual compact where the product is are removable (see below picture).
I bought the shade 204 Tan Gold which matched my yellow undertones perfectly. This comes with a non absorbing sponge for application. You press the sponge down in the product, which is also sponge like. You then tap it on your face. No rubbing is needed, just tapping and dabbing. Application feels nice and cooling and you can tell the sponge that comes with it does not absorb the product. It gives a light to medium coverage and dries somewhat matte but gives a little dewy appearance. I personally always need the extra matte-ness so I like to use a finishing powder on top.
I love this product during Winter in NY but I hate this product in Florida, let me tell you why. My face is definitely different in New York during the winter. My oily face becomes somewhat of a combo where I have dry skin but still get oily around my nose and forehead and some cheek areas. The Amore Pacific Color Control Cushion Compact was my go to foundation during the weekends when I was going out for the day with friends. It provided enough coverage, lasted for a good amount of hours, and kept my skin hydrated through walking through cold winds. In Florida, my skin is rarely dry. It is only dry if I dry it out because of skin chemical trial and errors! When I wear the Amore Pacific Color Control Cushion Compact in Florida, it makes me look way more oily than I should be. I guess its TOO hydrating for me when I’m already in a humid climate with oily skin.
I would give this a go if I had dry skin problems for sure! If you are oily like me and live in a humid area, skip it for now! Do you have some products you only use in certain climates?
