Pur Minerals was the first mineral based makeup that actually worked for me when I was in high school. I fell in love with their powder foundation and I have been a lover of the brand since. Recently I was sent their newest foundation, HydraFluid Water Serum Foundation, to test out!
The Pur Minerals HydraFluid Water Serum Foundation comes in 5 shades, Light, Medium, Tan, Dark, and Deep. These retail for around $39 for a 1 ounce tube of product. The coverage is medium and its build-able depending on how many layers you want to use. The finish is what they call a silky/dewy finish.
From Pur Minerals website:
“PÜR’s encapsulated water complex delivers Swiss Alps-sourced water to hydrate the skin for lasting radiance while providing silky, medium coverage. HydraFluid water serum foundation is incomparably lightweight yet offers the perfect amount of coverage and satisfies the desire for dewy, breathable, luminous looking skin. This is the chosen foundation to create “bare-looking” but perfect complexion whatever your skin tone or type. Water sourced from the Swiss Alps is known for its high purity and is the ideal mineral water to refresh skin.”
You can see the swatches of the 5 available colors below on my light/medium yellow undertoned skin.
When I first used the Medium on my face I noticed it was too dark so I had to mix in the Light foundation as well. I wished these foundation came in more shades since I feel like a lot of people would have to mix them since they have a limited color range. The feel of the foundation is very light and feels so good on. It doesn’t feel heavy at all, yet it still has a good medium coverage. I patted a second layer on some areas on with a beauty blender and I didn’t really need concealer. Since my face is oily, I like a matte face. I personally like to add a setting powder so it has more of a matte finish. I don’t do the dewy finish since my oils will do that for me latter on 😛 The foundation stayed on for a couple of hours but nothing crazy. My oils did break up the foundation in a couple of hours even with my favorite primers (I tried a few different ones). For myself and my very oily skin I wouldn’t wear this if I knew I was going to be out all day at work. I have been wearing this when I need to do some errands while looking presentable or if I know I’ll only be out for a couple of hours. I definite think if you have normal or dry skin this would work great on you!
Have you tried the Pur Minerals HydraFluid Water Serum Foundation yet? If you have what do you think about it? If you haven’t, is it something you are thinking about purchasing?
I have never heard of this foundation. But I have oily skin and it seems that this foundation would not work for me. Also the color range could be wider. I often end up between tan and dark with companies like this. And the color almost always looks bad on me. Plus I like a more full coverage foundation due to my acne scarring. I loved your honest review.
Your pics are always so amazing. I bet this would work better for you when you’re in colder climates. Might not be the perfect match for you in the Florida climate.
I hadn’t heard of this product! Your swatches are ?? thanks for the review!
I’m oily too! The matte-r the better!
This stuff looks amazing! I have never heard of it until now, but it’s definitely on my must try list!
I have dry skin so this would definitely work for me. Especially since I’m pretty particular about foundation!
I am incredibly clumsy but I am also so intrigued by any beauty product that has Hydro in the title. This stuff could absolutely work for my chronic dry skin!
Loove that flatlay! Thanks for the swatches. I wish they had more shades available.
I think we have the same complexion, so I think I’ll stay away from this foundation for now. Thanks for this review, super helpful!
