I was in NYC a week or so ago for the La Roche Posay #BeClearBootCamp and purchased an Away The Bigger Carry On. I packed 2 small bags and used up every single inch of space I had available. I didn’t have enough room to bring all my goodies I received during the event! A lot of the items were liquid and above the ounce allowance for a carry on so I had to check them. The bags I brought with me were both soft so I did not trust checking them in the plane cargo.
Away has a cute little store in SOHO NYC and is sold online. It seems the the SOHO location in NYC is the only physical store. This brand cuts out the middle man and therefore only charge a minimal markup price. Their luggage comes in 4 different sizes, The Carry On, The Bigger Carry On, The Medium, and The Large. Additional features include, the built in USB charger (only available on the carry on sizes), TSA friendly lock, swivel wheels, hard case, zippered compartments inside, and a removable laundry bag.
My Quick Review
I opted for Away The Bigger Carry On because I already have a large hard shell luggage and didn’t have any hard carry ons. This light weight hard cover carry on is just what I needed! I wanted the pink one SO BAD but they were out of it company wide 🙁 I decided on navy blue one. When I first opened it, I fell in love immediately! I love the space and the way they added the zippered compartment on one side. I hate it when I fill both sides of a luggage and then everything falls over when i flip it close! I also thought the idea of a buttoned laundry bag for dirty clothes was very fitting. I always have to look for a random bag at my hotel to stick my dirty clothes in.
Is It Worth It?
If you travel a lot and have gone through your fair share of cloth carry ons, YES! Lets be real honest here, if you travel once or twice a year you don’t need to spend $300 on a carry on. You don’t even need to spend anywhere near that! If you travel frequently, you need this. I am a consultant and traveling is a big part of my job. RUNNING through the ATL airport was also a huge part of my job at one point, lol!
Have you heard of Away?! Will you be checking out their luggage?!
