The next restaurant on my NYC foodie vacation was Jungsik! This is a 2 Michelin star restaurant! We originally wanted to go to Momofuko Ko but they had a special event on the night we wanted to go. My friend Allison found Jungsik as a replacement and it exceeded all our expectations! We all got the tasting menu that cost $200 (not ). It was worth every penny! I LOVE THIS PLACE!
This beautiful setup is Jungsik’s modern version of banchans.
Clockwise starting at the bottom left:
Fioe Gras with Apple Gelee- SO FREAKING GOOD! The best foie gras I’ve ever had!! We asked if we could pay extra for another serving and they were so kind to give us one on the house!
Roe- Delicious and smokey!
Fried Oyster- I never ate an oyster I didn’t like…. well except that one time when I think it was rotten 😛
Beef- I can’t remember exactly what kind of beef it was but so delicious!
Watermelon and Feta- Great combo!
Course 1 at Jungsik
This salty delicious course was the perfect starter. I love how they added a crispy element to this dish!
Course 2 at Jungsik
This also had barely cooked squid on top with a dashi broth. This was so light and refreshing. What a great combo of unique flavors!
Course 3 at Jungsik
This was OMG. The best octopus I’ve ever had. The outside has a light crisp and the inside is so tender. PERFECT!
Course 4 at Jungsik
One of my favorite fishes!! This also came with FRESH less than one week old cold pressed sesame oil from Korea! AMAZING! Such a simple, clean, and YUMMY dish.
Course 5 at Jungsik
TUNA KIM BAP
Seriously, everything here was so freaking good. This hand roll had truffle infused rice!! I also loved this because the seaweed was nice a crispy, not like your ordinary hand roll!
Course 6 at Jungsik
Such a tender piece of beef on top of the perfect portion of rice. MMMMMM!
Course 7 at Jungsik
Can I just have palette cleansers for my meal?
Course 8 at Jungsik
This is the dessert that came with the tasting menu. This is my friend’s plate. The banana is actually white chocolate with banana ice cream in the inside!
I opted for the NY SEOUL dessert which has black sesame and coconut flavored elements!
Course 8 at Jungsik
This is a sweet potato dessert! So good and simple!
Final Treats at Jungsik
We also got one more final dessert before it was time to leave!
I have to say that Jungsik was m y FAVORITE restaurant out of the for we went to in NYC! We went to Marea, Eleven Madison Park, and Le Bernardin! Blog post on the latter two are coming!
